Myongji Hospital has signed a partnership agreement with air ambulance operator BizInsight and international medical support provider Korea Assistance to streamline the emergency transport and treatment of patients overseas, drawing significant attention in the medical community.
According to Myongji Hospital, the three-way memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed on February 18 with BizInsight, the operator of the “Flying Doctors” air ambulance service, and Korea Assistance, a specialist in overseas medical support.
The signing ceremony took place at the New Horizon Healing Center within Myongji Hospital and was attended by Myongji Hospital President Dr. Jin-Koo Kim, Regional Emergency Medical Center Director Dr. In-Byung Kim, BizInsight CEO Sang-Soo Kim, Korea Assistance CEO Hyung-Tae Kim, and other representatives from the three organizations.
Under this agreement, the three parties will collaborate closely to facilitate the emergency evacuation, repatriation, treatment, and ongoing support of both domestic and international patients using air ambulances, commercial flights, and other means of transportation worldwide.
Myongji Hospital will play a key role in treating patients once they arrive in Korea. Additionally, its MJ Virtual Care Center will provide pre-arrival diagnostic consultations and medical advice for patients overseas, enhancing its role in telemedicine and international medical advisory services.
BizInsight, which operates the Flying Doctors service, maintains an extensive global network of air ambulances across more than 200 countries and delivers patient transport services between nations. The company also operates medical call centers and hospital partnerships in 184 countries, enabling it to offer integrated global medical support.
Meanwhile, Korea Assistance provides 24/7 response through its alarm center to support patients experiencing illness or injury abroad. The company helps ensure safe returns to Korea and offers a broad range of medical and insurance services.
"Last year alone, we transported nearly 50 patients from overseas to Korea using air ambulances," said Sang-Soo Kim, CEO of BizInsight. "Through this partnership with Myongji Hospital, we aim to expand not only our transport services but also enhance the quality of telemedicine and medical care for foreign patients in Korea."
"Myongji Hospital is designated to treat severe overseas patients in isolation settings, making it possible to provide treatment within the golden hour after air ambulance transport," said Dr. Jin-Koo Kim, President of Myongji Hospital. "We will continue to provide swift and effective treatment through our MJ Virtual Care Center and International Telemedicine Center."
