Global life care specialist, Biz Insight, announced on the 7th that it has received provisional approval for its non-face-to-face medical service connecting overseas Koreans with domestic medical institutions via an app under the regulatory sandbox.
Flying Doctors, operated by Biz Insight, provides 24-hour health consultations, local hospital reservations, payment guarantees, and emergency transport services through its own air ambulance to overseas Koreans, including expatriates and travelers worldwide.
With this provisional approval, Biz Insight can now provide high-quality online medical support services to overseas Koreans via the Flying Doctors online platform (phone, video call), including the issuance of prescriptions based on a professional medical assessment when necessary, within the regulated sandbox system.
The first Industrial Convergence Regulatory Special Committee, led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, approved the service, recognizing its contribution to addressing the medical blind spots of overseas Koreans. It is expected to protect the health rights of overseas workers, students, and other overseas Koreans and promote healthcare choice through various non-face-to-face medical services.
A Biz Insight representative said, "With this approval, we can offer overseas Koreans faster and more convenient non-face-to-face medical services based on the online platform we have built. We are enhancing the service to provide more practical and effective benefits by utilizing our digital healthcare assets, including the online medical service platform and air ambulances."
Meanwhile, Biz Insight operates its own air ambulance through its subsidiary, which is the only one in South Korea. The service is provided by a team of Korean medical professionals and pilots who manage the entire process of overseas patient transport. Biz Insight also offers travel insurance and 24-hour medical support services, Insuplus, for Koreans traveling abroad for tourism, study, or long-term stays.
